Irfan

The word used for Sufism amongst Shia Muslims. This is because Sufism became heavily persecuted later in the Safawi regime, and so some practitioners adopted irfan as an alternative label to avoid being grouped with some Sufi groups that had odd practices, were heavily cultish and considered deviant.
