Shirk Khafi
Lit. Hidden Shirk. A kind of conceptual shirk in which a person acknowledges the One God and His Sovereignty, but who’s theology entails conclusions that are incompatible with this initial acknowledgement. Every school of theology by definition believes other schools of theology to hold some views that are shirk khafi. This type of shirk does not negate a person’s Islam. Shirk khafi may also refer to experiencing phenomena in the heart as separate from God, even if one has a sound conceptual understanding.
